Grace Pilgrimage - Creating Peace Knowledge - Portugal, Sep `09
Related to country: Portugal
About the book: "Grace. Pilgrimage for a Future without War"

September 27 to October 15, 2009: On foot from the Stone Circle of Almendres near Evora to the Stone Circle of Tamera Peace Research Center, Portugal

We can be the change that we want to see in the world.

Each step taken in such consciousness is a step on a new continent.

More: www.sabine-lichtenfels.com

Sabine Lichtenfels and the GRACE Foundation will start the 4th GRACE Pilgrimage. Using the motto "Creating Models for a Future without War," the pilgrimage is intended to draw the attention of leading European powers to the original sources of human culture on this continent. It is also the wish of Sabine Lichtenfels to motivate financial backers to invest their money in the development of comprehensive peace models rather than in the war machinery.

After the three preceding pilgrimages through areas of crises, such as the Middle East and Colombia, this year's GRACE Pilgrimage takes place in Portugal and puts its focus on Europe. Historically, Europe as a continent has been a source of conquest, the destruction of nature, and the global annihilation of aboriginal tribal cultures. Just as Europe played a central part in the worldwide injuries inflicted throughout history, it can now play a central part in their healing by coming to a fundamental change of mind and behavior about the key issues involved. The Pilgrimage will therefore end with the presentation of a technological, ecological and social model that is intended to provide answers designed to lead us out of the cultural impasse of our times: the presentation of the SolarVillage testfield from October 16 to 18 in Tamera.

The Pilgrimage will start at the prehistoric stone circle of Almendres near Evora and goes from there through Torrão, Grândola, Sines and Odemira, ending at the contemporary stone circle of the Peace Research Center of Tamera. This journey will aid in the recollection and

comprehension of humanity's passage from prehistoric and peaceful tribal cultures to a global model project for a humane and peaceful culture of the future. Sabine Lichtenfels invites the participation of peace activists, pilgrims, visionaries, and of people of all ages who want to contribute to the dawn of a new age, from Portugal or any other country in the world. We also look forward to having participants from other cultures: from Tibet and from Indigenous cultures in India and the Americas.

The Pilgrimage will be accompanied by a theater tour from the "Place of the Children" in Tamera. They will perform their play in Portuguese, "The Black Shadow and the Secret of the Princess," a political piece that is looking for solutions and alternatives from a children's point of view.

Sabine Lichtenfels, the leader of the Pilgrimage, is the author of many books. She is a member of the Portuguese contingent of the Swiss initiative "1000 Women for Peace," which was nominated for the Nobel Peace Price in 2005, and she is a founding member of the international Peace Research Center Tamera.

The Route will be approximately 240 km
From the 27th September until the 15th October

Prices:
We use Ecorate tables based on the living standards and income of people rather than on financial markets.

As a preparation, we strongly suggest that you go on longer walks before the pilgrimage, with your backpack.

We will walk up to 20 km per day.

We will sleep outdoors, sometimes staying in campsites (with showers and laundry facilities).

About the book: "Grace. Pilgrimage for a Future without War"

Share our support for th Peacevillage San Jose de Apartado !
Help to spread the information !
Thank you !

Approximately 400 people will go on a Peace Pilgrimage from October 1st to October 5th, 2008.Peace workers from Israel, Palestine and many more countries - including representatives of the “new South American spirit of resurrection” from Mexico, Ecuador and other countries - will be led by Sabine Lichtenfels and Padre Javier Giraldo, together with experienced regional guides. The idea for this pilgrimage grew out of the long standing cooperation between the Peace Research Centre Tamera, Portugal, and the Peace Village San José de Apartadó. Together with the inhabitants of other Colombian Peace Villages, they will show with this peace action their commitment to build up a global peace force which no longer stops at national borders. The pilgrimage will pass through villages and hamlets surrounding San José, where, due to their remoteness, people live near military posts, police headquarters and other significant locations of the rebellion, totally unprotected between the fronts of the civil war. The goal of the pilgrimage is to become familiar with the threat to which Colombian peasants are exposed, to develop peace strategies, and to strengthen the Ring of Power – a confraternity for a future without war!

Tamera - Holzer Permaculture - Seminar Series
Related to country: Portugal

Practical seminar Series for Holzer Permaculture

First Seminar: October 5th - 12th

Ecology is the central theme in a model for a global Peace Research Village (PRV) especially at a time when destruction of the landscape, hunger and desertization are rampant. In close cooperation with the permaculture expert, Sepp Holzer, we want to find answers to these issues. Therefore in Tamera (134 ha) a permaculture and water landscape has been developed to offer answers to the following social and ecological questions:
How does a non-violent and ecologically compatible village model look for the human being to live on planet earth?
How can one heal the water situation so that there is enough water for everyone and the fertility of the soil can be improved?
How do human beings, animals and plants co-exist in cooperation and harmony?
How does one develop a regionally self-sufficient food supply?

In October of this year a continuous series of seminars for Holzer permaculture begins. It will be practical learning based on current projects. Interested and experienced people are warmly welcomed to co-create and mutually brain-storm.

First seminar:
“Development of retention space, mixed seeds, and the symbiosis of interaction”
October 5th - 12th
Presentation: Sepp Holzer and the Tamera Ecology Team

During the seminar the following core issues will concern us:
How does one build water retention spaces?
How does one build high beds and terraces which form the basis of the Holzer permaculture?
How can one develop and continually increase the fertility of the soil and the entire biotope?
How does one best use the symbiosis of interaction between the various mixed cultures of fruit, vegetable and helper plants?
Which type of green fertilizers and mixed seeds are beneficial to this process?

Second seminar:
“Water Landscape and Aqua Culture”
January 28 – February 3, 2009
Presentation: Sepp Holzer and the Tamera Ecology Team

General information:
- Content is liable to change due to weather conditions.
- The third seminar will take place from April 13-19, 2009. Content not yet determined.

update June 11th :
Dear….

With this letter we want to invite you warmly to our Summer University, which takes place from July 21-30, 2008. We know that this invitation comes at very short notice, but we will explain why:

Shortly after the violent riots in Tibet in March, we received a message from His Holiness, the XVII Gyalwa Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley, where he mentioned his interest in visiting Tamera. Tamera is the “base camp” of a project which has been developed in the last thirty years to free the earth from violence and war. Our motivations are to bring healing to the collective trauma, establish applicable prototype models, create an efficient global network, and offer help in crisis areas. The project focuses on nonviolent cooperation with all beings, self-sufficiency through new technology, and ending the war between the genders.

We came closer to the Buddhist world and we want to invite you to our think tank for a future without war: What could be our common vision and action for global peace, in particular for the Tibetan crisis?

Although H.H. the Karmapa will not come to Tamera this year, a delegation on behalf of H.H. will participate in the Summer University, including Venerable Lama Jamphal (Director of the Gyuto Health and Education Department of the Gyuto Tantric University), Tenzin Nyendak (Secretary of Lama Jamphal), Venerable Chemy (Secretary of H.H. Karmapa for foreign affairs), and Gelek Khedup.
They found out about the work of Tamera through different paths. One was a video about our Solar Village, which is a research branch of Tamera. (It can be seen here: http://www.solarpowervillage.info/).

For us the connection to Tibet and to Buddhists everywhere is essential. It is an important part of the political strategy for a nonviolent earth that is taught and researched here in Tamera: to integrate the Buddhist wisdom and combine it with a new knowledge for nonviolent future models.

We view the visit of H.H. delegation as the start for a very unique cooperation in the name of peace workers worldwide. For this we warmly invite you to our Summer University to find out where our next steps of cooperation could lead. We want to discover a common strategy. Tibet needs help!

Greetings from the Tamera community,
