TAMERA Manifesto - For a New Generation on Planet Earth

We greet the youth of the world. We greet all peace-activists and helpers in the crisis areas of the earth. We greet those who, often risking death, dedicate their lives to uphold human rights, for the protection of children and indigenous peoples, the protection of animals, the protection of oceans, trees and all co-creatures of the great family of life. We also greet those governments who still have the courage to stand up against worldwide globalisation and its methods. This is a manifesto for a young generation which no longer has a future in existing society, for those who are actively involved in the struggle for liberation, for the relatives of the victims, for the unbearably many people who can no longer see a way out and who have no perspective in the face of daily misery.

The world is in transition towards a new way to live on Earth. The old dictatorships and hierarchies cannot remain much longer. We are experiencing the collapse of the mega-systems. The revolution in the Arab countries, the youth rioting in the Western mega-cities, the world financial crisis and mass unemployment, the rise of wars and man-made natural catastrophes, the moral decline into squalor of most governments, the international plans for states of emergency and the underground bunkers for the wealthy are sure signs of the approaching end of a violent epoch. Behind the global violence, powers of a profound change of era are showing themselves. Those who stand against despotism today could witness a completely changed world tomorrow. We greet those who are preparing the new era on all continents today, often risking their lives. We greet the newly arising planetary community.

Learning and Helping in the Permaculture Landscape
May 3 – September 30, 2010

We invite you for a practical cooperation in creating a permaculture landscape running from May till the end of September.

We have big plans. Big plans that make the heart beat with joy and excitement, since our times require big steps for healing to occur.

In cooperation with permaculture specialist Sepp Holzer, a water landscape is emerging here in Tamera, surrounded by permaculture gardens as a model for landscape healing.

The intention of our work is to once again step into cooperation with nature through being in contact with the plants,the animals and the inherent dream of the land.

"Holzer's Permaculture is landscape design in a larger context to correct the mistakes of the past, to enable the symbioses of mutual effects, to let nature and time do its work, to reestablish natural cycles." (Sepp Holzer)

For people interested in practical work, we are offering the possibility (during summertime) to collaborate in creating self sufficiency in the permacultural system; working with fruit, vegetables, spices and seeds. At the same time this is a wonderful opportunity to get to know the basic thoughts of Tamera.

Embedded in a professional team you are given insights into the main project areas and research questions of peace work.

Practical seminar series for Sepp Holzer permaculture in Tamera, Portugal in 2009

We offer seminars with Sepp Holzer where one can learn the theory and practice of Holzer's Permaculture in conjunction with the actual development of the water landscape in Tamera.

means landscape design in a wider sense:
Correct the mistakes of past,
enable the symbioses of mutual effects,
letting nature work,
reestablishing natural cycles.“

The essential areas of Holzer's Permaculture are the development of water landscapes for the ecological renaturation of the land, and the evolution of many mutually-supportive communities of plant and biotopes, which also create a self-sufficient supply of food for the people living there. In addition to dealing with these basic topics, each seminar has its own focus in such a way that the seminars can be attended individually, or as a series that complement each other.

General Information: Depending on the weather conditions, the contents of the seminars are subject to change.

November 9, 2008: Join the Global GRACE Day
What is the Global GRACE Day?

GRACE is the power that may overcome all violence because it is at home in the hearts of all human beings. (Sabine Lichtenfels)

The Global GRACE Day is a special initiative by a growing movement of individuals all over the world. The movement cannot and should not be identified with a specific group or organization; it is an expanding movement of those who have started to develop the quality of GRACE in their hearts. You will recognize them not by their signs and signals, but by the way they behave, act and talk.

One core figure in this movement is Sabine Lichtenfels, peace activist and cofounder of the peace research centre Tamera in Portugal. She is one of the most fascinating spiritual teachers of our time, connecting political actions with female peace knowledge in a unique way. She leads international pilgrimages through crisis areas and is the initiator of the “Global Campus,” an education program for young peace workers which will eventually have bases on all continents.

GRACE activists around the world on the Global GRACE Day read a meditation that Sabine Lichtenfels “receives” each year on a special place in a special way. In 2008, the words will come to her while she is leading a pilgrimage in Colombia with more than 400 participants, together with Padre Xavier Giraldo, Benjamin von Mendelssohn and inhabitants of the peace village San José (Colombia).

In 2005 Sabine Lichtenfels held a meditation in Israel/Palestine in front of the separation wall near the small village Baqqa al Garbye. In 2006 she gathered a group in Berlin, Germany in front of the Holocaust Memorial. In 2007 she was again in Israel/Palestine, where a night vigil took place in Bethlehem. More than 120 international peace workers joined this event in Bethlehem and about 70 groups participated with their own actions all around the world. In 2008 Sabine Lichtenfels will do the meditation in Guatemala.

The meditation serves as an energetic and spiritual sign that we, as humanity, can no longer accept both the inner and outer walls built on a global scale.

More and more groups and individuals worldwide are joining the Global GRACE Day with their specific actions. Whatever they do, they agree on following points:

1. The action is held in the name of GRACE. Whoever wants to take part commits to study thoroughly what is meant by GRACE. (See the text “What is GRACE?” below) We also recommend reading the book, GRACE. Pilgrimage for a Future without War by Sabine Lichtenfels, where the idea and effectiveness of GRACE is described within the context of peace activities in the Middle East.)

2. At some time during the event, the specific meditation text by Sabine Lichtenfels is read out loud and thus serves as the common bond between all participants.


Why November 9th?

Throughout history, November 9th has seen both the force of cruelty and the power of liberation. On November 9, 1938, known as the "Reichspogromnacht" (Crystal Night), synagogues were burned and more than 30,000 people were forced into concentration camps. On November 9, 1989, the Berlin wall, acting as a barrier between two ideologies, was finally taken down.

Many peace movements around the world now use this day as a day of remembrance and as a day of opportunity to create a common peace power that no longer allows cruelty and separation between humans and our planet.
